Developed and executed strategies and cross-departmental projects targeted towards product stewardship and the circular economy resulting in the company achieving the prestigious Canada’s Greenest Employer Award for all three consecutive years of employment. Directed the interdisciplinary ‘Design for Environment’ program reducing human health and ecological impacts of products through sustainable material choice, manufacturing analysis, chemical mitigation, packaging reduction and transportation logistics. Implemented and advanced third-party environmental certifications. Launched Keilhauer’s first FSC certified product and actively pursued certification to include one third of all wood table lines certified with processes in place to continue expansion to all wood tables.Ensured compliance for national, provincial and municipal regulatory programs focusing on facility emissions, hazardous waste, and chemical usage. Redeveloped the Waste and Recycling Management program opening up new revenue streams for the business, creating valuable community partnerships and ensured 89% of all waste materials recycled and a 49% reduction of recyclable material in the waste stream between 2015 and 2016. As a result of the programs success, Keilhauer won the Recycling Council of Ontario: Industrial, Commercial and Institutional Gold Award for Excellence of Commitment to a Sustainable Environment for 2014 and 2015.Established methodologies to measure resource use, resulting in benchmarked results for sustainable improvement, increased public transparency and opened communications. Published the company’s first, annual Corporate Sustainability Report, product specific Product Environmental Criteria documents, and End of Product Life Documents.
