Performance Apparel

This project employed principles of Biomimicry as a conduit to address thermoregulation challenges in figure skating apparel. Below freezing temperatures and excessive heat created by the athlete ensures an extreme and dynamic environment.

Using survival strategies employed by three different organisms (gular fluttering of a bird to dry, heat reduction design of a desert snail creating a micro buffer environment, and the moisture wicking properties of the leaf stomata) I created a training dress, and training leggings designed to keep the athletes core temperature regulated, and the athlete dry (from perspiration or falling on wet ice).
